Google Workspace for Education


Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals offers staff and students access to a free suite of easy-to-use tools that provide a flexible and secure foundation for learning, collaboration, and communication.

Student account information, documents, and settings will be disclosed and stored on Google servers, located outside of Canada, and may be subject to the laws of foreign jurisdictions. Privacy legislation requires that we inform you of this and obtain your consent to this arrangement.

Services and Settings

K - 8 Services
  • Google Workspace for Education email account is limited to only School District 63
  • Google Drive (unlimited storage, including Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Drawing and Jamboard)
  • Ability to share data is set to private by default
  • Google Drive is limited sharing to only School District 63
  • Google Calendar, Google Sites and Google Classroom
  • Read&Write by TextHelp extension for Google Chrome
9 - 12 Services
  • Google Workspace for Education email account is not limited
  • Google Drive (unlimited storage, including Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Drawing and Jamboard)
  • Ability to share data is set to private by default
  • Google Drive sharing is not limited
  • Additional filtering and flagging in Google Workspace for Education for inappropriate content
  • Complete Google Workspace for Education for Education products and services
  • Read&Write by TextHelp extension for Google Chrome

Student Information

  • School District 63 assigned email Address (includes student number)

  • Classroom assignments, research notes, presentations, and school-based projects
  • Word processing, spreadsheet, slideshow, and drawing files
  • Multimedia objects (e.g., video, audio, image, and animation files)
Teacher Generated Data
  • Summative assessments (e.g., teacher comments, peer feedback, surveys, etc.)
How is it used?

  • Provide you licensed access to tools
User Generated Data
  • Content created by staff and students may sometimes use cloud services to manage or manipulate work
  • Communicate with teachers and other students related to educational purposes

  • Consent is required yearly. If no consent is received, your information is stored for one year, recoverable through recreating your account. After that it is deleted.
